Humaniq, the blockchain project targeting the unbanked with a cryptocurrency-fuelled Android app, now has 500,000 registered users, according to a report released by the project today.
The mission Humaniq has set itself is to put in place the infrastructure to enable the financial inclusion of those excluded in emerging market economies. A key part of that infrastructure is its native token – HMQ. The token is ranked 479th on Coinmarketcap and is up 1.4% on the news to $0.029.
On top of the token and exchange is a built-in wallet and messaging service into the smartphone app.
Impressively, the project has also integrated biometric ID features into the app too. In a big step towards its ultimate vision, the app now has transactional features, what Humaniq calls “Chat-integrated transactions between users”.
The biometric ID algorithm developed by Humaniq uses more than 50 different metrics to determine who is the selfie camera’s view.
Pushing ahead in Africa
Since launch in November 2017 the app has amassed user in 47 countries, although most are on the African continent. Users have so far send 60 million messages., with the app now supporting three different languages.
Humaniq raised $5.2 million in its ICO.
Those interested in taking a deeper dive can download the app from the Google Play app store.
The project was voted Top Pick in Blockchain at TechCrunch Disrupt 2018.
Founder Alex Fork says in the introduction to the report, said: ” the challenges we faced were many, including complicated development requirements, a highly varied and ambiguous legal landscape, as well as a difficult and hard to penetrate market. I’m proud to say that our strategy has paid off, and we are succeeding in overcoming these hurdles.”
