Coinbase explores listing Cardano’s ADA, Decentraland (MANA), Enjin (ENJ), KIN and more

coinbaseAssets can now apply to be listed on Coinbase

US exchange Coinbase has announced that it is exploring the listing of a new bunch of crypto assets. In Medium blog post it said:

“Coinbase is exploring a broad range of assets which include, in alphabetical order by symbol: Cardano (ADA), Aeternity (AE), Aragon (ANT), Bread Wallet (BRD), Civic (CVC), Dai (DAI), district0x (DNT), EnjinCoin (ENJ), EOS (EOS), Golem Network (GNT), IOST (IOST), Kin (KIN), Kyber Network (KNC), ChainLink (LINK), Loom Network (LOOM), Loopring (LRC), Decentraland (MANA), Mainframe (MFT), Maker (MKR), NEO (NEO), OmiseGo (OMG), (POE), QuarkChain (QKC), Augur (REP), Request Network (REQ), Status (SNT), Storj (STORJ), Stellar (XLM), XRP (XRP), Tezos (XTZ), and Zilliqa (ZIL).”

It is by no means certain that any or all of those coins will be listed although it has listed three of the ones it mentioned in a similar post a couple of months back, namely  BAT, ZEC, ZRX. The Coinbase post continued:

“Adding new assets requires significant exploratory work from both a technical and compliance standpoint, and we cannot guarantee that all the assets we are evaluating will ultimately be listed for trading. Furthermore, our listing process may result in some of these assets being listed solely for customers to buy and sell, without the ability to send or receive using a local wallet. Finally, as per our listing process, we will add new assets on a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction basis, which allows us to add assets efficiently and responsibly.”

Coinbase’s surprise inclusions, MANA, ENJ and KIN

Among those coins are a couple of interesting ones that have been somewhat under the radar: Enjin and Decentraland. They are both gaming coins, the first for managing virtual in-game assets and the other a decentralised virtual world.

Decentraland’s native token MANA  in one of only 10 tokens that hasn’t fallen in value by 85%. It has just entered into a partnership with Binance so that BNB can be used in its upcoming LAND auction which begins on 11 December. And today it announced that ZIL was also to be accepted as a currency in the auction.

The second auction will be conducted as a Dutch auction in which the price is fixed high and then falls as buyers come in at their preferred price.

Another interesting inclusion is KIN, another hugely overlooked coin but one that is gaining traction as apps using the KIN token are launched. KIN is the native token of the Kik messaging app popular among young people in North America.
